Bring home the harvest

From orchards and hedgerows with their glut of fruit and berries, to earthy root vegetables and meat made tasty from summer grazing, there are a myriad of fresh ingredients available in autumn. Make the most of them with this selection of seasonal recipes

Although seasonal availability no longer dictates what is prepared in our kitchens, many of us still find it appealing to cook with traditional seasonal ingredients because of the variation and interest it provides, as well, of course, as the chance to use fresh produce at its best.

The recipes featured here come from the English Beef and Lamb Executive (EBLEX) and as Jane Ritchie-Smith, the Marketing Manager at EBLEX, says: "The practice of celebrating harvests in this country is centuries old, so we thought it fitting to bring customs bang up-to-date with some stunning new recipes inspired by the flavours of autumn produce. Few seasons can match autumn's abundance of fresh produce and with all our recipes bursting with seasonal flavour, we really feel they are the pick of the crop!"
